Immortal Beloved

The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Esquire Theatre invite you to a screening of the 1994 film Immortal Beloved to kick off the SUMMERMUSIK 2017 Festival's finale weekend - a celebration of all things “love” Film critic Roger Ebert believed that Immortal Beloved had “clearly been made by people who feel Beethoven directly in their hearts.” Starring Gary Oldman and Isabella Rossellini, the film begins with Beethoven’s death. Then, through a series of flashbacks, the film tries to discover the identity of the mystery woman Beethoven called his “Immortal Beloved.” Along the way the viewer experiences stunning cinematography, formidable acting and Beethoven's powerful music. CCO music director Eckart Preu will present introductory commentary about the facts and fiction surrounding Beethoven and his Immortal Beloved in the theater beginning promptly at 7:30pm.
